In 1992 the Johnson County ERA Coalition was organized in Iowa City in order to promote the passage of the Equal Rights Amendment to the Constitution of the State of Iowa. The Johnson County Coalition worked closely with other organizations such as ERA Iowa 1992, the League of Women Voters, and the Iowa Women's Equality Campaign. Phyllis Schlafly was born 15 August 1924 in St. Louis, Missouri. The mother of six, she is an attorney and a conservative political activist. Her biggest platforms have been against equal rights amendments and feminist views.
